Colts' Nick Harper Knifed by Wife

Story byMichelle Howard, StarArticle.com

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Nick Harper was in the line up for Sunday's playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, one day after receiving injuries in an apparent domestic disturbance.

Harper’s 31-year-old wife Danielle was charged Saturday with battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness after stabbing her husband’s right knee with a large filet knife. Harper was treated at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for a puncture wound and released.

The original story submitted by Craig Kelley, spokesman for the Colts, was that Harper needed stitches following a car accident. But Hamilton County Sheriff, Doug Carter, said there was no accident, that Harper was injured because he and his wife Danielle were arguing at their home in Carmel, Indianapolis.

Danielle Harper was arrested Saturday afternoon and was held overnight at the Hamilton County Jail. In a sworn statement, she told the court “she had accidentally stabbed her husband.”

The couple’s three children were in the home during the altercation and were unharmed. They are being care for by family members.

In June, Nick Harper, was arrested on a domestic battery charge. He spent the weekend in jail after police said he hit his wife.
