Seoul, May 30 (DPA) Founder of Daewoo Group Kim Woo Choong was Tuesday sentenced to 10 years in jail for fraud and embezzlement, court officials said.
Kim was also ordered to forfeit 21.4 trillion won ($22.62 billion) and fined 10 million won by the Seoul Central District Court.
He was however acquitted of bribery charges.
Kim, 69, fled in 1999 after the business empire he built up to be the second-largest industrial group in South Korea collapsed under more than $75 billion in debts.
He was arrested last June when he returned to Seoul after six years on the run.
