London, June 26 (IANS) Guitarist Keith Richards of the band The Rolling Stones has dismissed rumours that Gram Parsons was the creative influence behind the band's classic album 'Exile on Main Street'.
According to contactmusic.com, music commentators have claimed that Parsons wrote many of the country-influenced songs but Richards claims that Parsons actually learned rock n' roll during recording sessions he attended.
He says: 'We were sitting around playing all day, writing two songs a day which we would record in the evening. Gram was always around in the background. He was intimately involved in it, let's put it that way. He was seeing what kind of impact the Stones could have on an audience and was definitely soaking it up. He would be asking me about rock 'n' roll. It was a two-way street.'
