Washington, June 30 (Xinhua) A 12-year-old boy died after riding a roller coaster at the Disney-MGM theme park at Orlando, Florida, becoming the ninth person to have died at Disney World since 2003.
A Disney spokesman said the boy, Michael Russell, rode the roller coaster with his parents and seven-year-old brother Thursday. After the family got off the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, the boy's father noticed his son was limp.
The boy was sent to hospital but was pronounced dead later, Disney said in a statement. The cause of the boy's death has not yet been determined.
The theme park said the roller coaster had been operating normally and it had launched a full investigation.
The company offered its 'deepest sympathies' to the bereaved family from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, said Disney spokesman Jacob Dipietre.
In recent years, a string of mishaps have occurred at Disney World. State officials said the boy was the ninth person to have died at Disney World since 2003.
A four-year-old boy and a 49-year-old woman died after going on another Disney ride, Epcot's 'Mission: Space' in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
