Berlin, July 2 (DPA) Ronaldo says he intends to keep playing for Brazil, but may not get a chance to improve on his all-time World Cup record of 15 goals he set this year.
'There is absolutely no reason to stop, to not play for the team anymore,' the 29-year-old star striker said after holders Brazil crashed out against France in the quarter-finals Saturday.
Ronaldo scored three times at the current World Cup, including the opener in Brazil's 3-0 second-round defeat of Ghana that took him past the 14-goal record set by Gerd Mueller.
The German 'bomber' set his mark in two tournaments (1970 and 1974), while Ronaldo scored in three - 1998, 2002 and this year's.
France's Just Fontaine still holds the record for the most goals in a single World Cup - 13, set in 1958.
Ronaldo scored key goals at the current World Cup, defying critics who called him old and fat. But he would be 33 in 2008, when South Africa hosts the next championship.
