Kenyan beaten to death for ridiculing Brazil fans

Nairobi, July 4 (Xinhua) A 21-year-old man was beaten to death in western Kenya for ridiculing the Brazilian football team after the title holders were bundled out in the World Cup quarterfinals.

Austin Ochieng Okello succumbed to injuries as a result of thorough beating by his two friends whom he had earlier met in Siaya district of western Kenya before engaging them on an argument over the defeat of the South Americans, Kenya News Agency reported Tuesday.

According to the report, as the argument got out of hand, Okello ridiculed the duo for supporting a 'weak' team at the finals, sparking off a fierce fight between him and the other two.

The duo overpowered him, beat him up and left him unconscious on the roadside.

A villager took the young man to his home, where he died.

Local police officer Humphrey Wanzala confirmed the incident, saying that police had launched a manhunt for the assailants.
