Himalayan heartbeat in Canada

Ottawa, July 10, (IANS) The Canada Forum for Nepal, a Canadian organisation that primarily focuses on promoting intellectual exchanges between the two countries, organised a cultural evening called 'Himalayan Heartbeat' here last week.

Speaking at the event Friday, famous Canadian mountaineer Andrew Brash, who saved veteran Australian mountaineer and author Lincoln Hall on the Mt Everest, said that the Himalayan mountains present extreme challenges.

Brash, who was the chief guest at the event, presented some astonishing landscapes of Nepal. He also showed some rare video footage of his journey to the summit. He had to abandon his climb to Mt Everest to save the Australian climber.

The audience was touched by the story of Lincoln's rescue.

Speaking at the occasion, founding member of the forum Dr. Pramod Dhakal appealed to the audience to help in building a peaceful, democratic and prosperous Nepal.
