Pete Doherty buried his kitten by the side of a road on Tuesday night

Pete Doherty buried his kitten by the side of a road on Tuesday night (27.05.08).

The Babyshambles frontman, who recently bought three new cats bringing his total to 10 felines, revealed his pet had passed away as he was travelling to his solo London show at Brixton’s Mass club.

Pete, who was seen taking one of his cats to the vet last week, told the crowd: "Sorry I'm late. But considering I've had to bury one of my cats at the roadside I've done pretty well to be here."

Before the 29-year-old rocker arrived at the show, fans were told he was running late because his “kittens had gone crazy”.

When Pete arrived, a member of his entourage was seen carrying one of the cats backstage.

Earlier this month, it was claimed Pete had bought several pregnant mice for his pets to feed on and was letting the rodents roam around his London home for the cats to catch.

He recently revealed he realised his drug use was spiralling out of control after he attacked one of his beloved pets.

Pete said: "I got a shovel and was going to kill one of the cats. It was a bit of a crazy time."

The musician was also caught up in a cat controversy last year when it was alleged he had been feeding one of his animals crack cocaine.
