Ronaldo's mum insists that he sticks with ManU

London, June 7 (ANI) Portuguese striker and Manchester United's leading goal scorer for this year, Cristiano Ronaldo has been told by his mother to remain at Old Trafford, and give up thoughts of quitting for Real Madrid.

Only a day after announcing he wanted to leave England for Spain, the 23-year-old has been put in his place.

His mum, Dolores Aveiro, said: "He's fine where he is. Only God knows the future, but he is going to continue in Manchester."

According to The Daily News, she made the comments on route to Geneva to visit her son who is preparing for tonight's opening Portugal game against Turkey.

Dolores comments contradict those Ronaldo made to Brazilian website Terra.com that if Madrid paid United what they said they would - around 75 million pounds, he would join them.

Ronaldo said: "I would like to play for Real Madrid, but only if it is true they are ready to pay what Manchester United ask of them."

That was interpreted as meaning he would only move if it was in a world record deal.

A delighted Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon responded by saying: "For Madrid, it is an honour to know that a player like him thinks that playing at Real Madrid would be good. (ANI)
