Waitress loses job after cancer charity head shave

London, June 7 (ANI): A waitress has been sacked for shaving her head to raise money for a cancer charity.

Stacey Fearnall had worked at Nathaniel's Restaurant in Owen part time for two years.

She was told by her bosses that she no longer met the restaurant's dress standards, and ordered to take the rest of the summer off, without pay.

The 36-year-old was told she could return when her hair had grown back.

"I can't believe this is happening to me. I had my head shaved because cancer has touched so many people that I know," Telegraph quoted her as telling Toronto Star.

Fearnall had raised around 1,350 pounds by having her thick red hair shaved off at an event for the Cops for Cancer charity.

But when she showed up for work at her restaurant, she said her bosses "looked at me disgusted".

However, she admitted that her employers had previously "made it very clear" that they had concerns about the haircut plan, but said that they had never explicitly told her that she could not have it done.

"Even when I asked them point blank if I would still have a job if I had my head shaved, they didn't give me a direct answer, so I thought it was okay," she added.

Restaurant owners Dan Hilliard and Jeff Ferris said that there were rules about how staff had to be turned out, and said that he had previously advised Mrs Fearnall of his concerns. (ANI)
