Coldplay’s comeback show has been thrown into jeopardy

The 31-year-old singer twisted his knee awkwardly during practice sessions ahead of the band’s date at London’s Brixton Academy on Monday (16.06.08), and is in excruciating pain.

A source said: “Chris has been in absolute agony with his knee.

“He’s had to strap it up and has been hobbling around the place. He doesn’t want to cancel the show so he is going to fight through the pain barrier.”

If the concert goes ahead it will showcase Coldplay’s much-anticipated fourth album ‘Viva La Vida, Or Death And All His Friends’, which is released today (12.06.08).

Chris’ injury is not the band’s only setback. They have also been forced to postpone the start of their North American tour due to “production delays”.

The run of shows was due to begin in Philadelphia on June 29 but will now start in Los Angeles on July 14.

A statement on their official website read: "The band have experienced some production delays which mean that the show simply won't be ready for June 29. It's very frustrating but they promise you a show worthy of your patience and understanding when they start in mid-July."
