Liv Tyler was nicknamed ‘Action Pants’ after her trousers ripped on the set

Liv Tyler was nicknamed ‘Action Pants’ after her trousers ripped on the set of ‘The Incredible Hulk’.

The actress was assigned the unfortunate title because she repeatedly flashed her bare butt to co-stars, including Edward Norton, due to her flimsy pants.

Director Louis Leterrier said: “I have a secret for you - it didn’t happen on one occasion, it happened on several occasions where Liv’s pants tore open. She definitely deserves her nickname!

“Her pants were very thin, but I love to put my actors in the real action, the real deal. Liv was getting torn - she was bruised from day one to the end. She liked it. She was like, 'Bring on the bruising.’ ”

Liv - who stars as Betty Ross, the love interest of Norton’s character Dr. Bruce Banner, who transforms into the Hulk when he gets angry - recently admitted she loved filming the gruelling action scenes.

She said: "I hate it when I go to see action movies and the girl looks fabulous the whole time with perfect lipstick, hair and make-up. You should look tired!

"I had no make-up on and I was drenched in sweat and rain. I really enjoyed it."
